Previously I posted about the two millefiore face canes that I just made using Kato polyclay.
I spent a couple of days playing “dress up” to create Victorian style ladies, dancehall girls and some honkytonk angels (as well as miniature masks for the upcoming swap and more lentil beads–its been a very busy polyclay week.
Of course, I had to stop several times and go through my stash of canes for things like wings and lace…and then stop and make some new lace canes in black.
I think I have to make some new white lace canes too as I am down to my last 1/2 inch on most of the best ones and its time for a new batch of Victorian hand beads too.
All in good time, which is to say, coming right up this Spring and Summer!
Here are some pics of the ladies so far; I still have to add a little bit of Varathane polyurethane over the gold leaf, a few feathers, and all the pinbacks.
But that is TOMORROW’s fun! and plenty to do over the rest of the warm months too.
Though with today’s plunge back into cooler temps and Winter Storm Warnings, today has tested the pliability of my canes and they are doing very well indeed.
I just love your victorian ‘ladies’ such fun. I only started looking up polymer clay as I live in the country and am sick to death of having to drive one and a half hours to the nearest town to buy six buttons for a grandchild’s cardigan.
I AM going to be playing with polymer clay. I may have to buy tools etc on the internet but want you to know that your pages have been a real insperation. I’ll never do those detailed art works – just buttons will be fine.
I’m raring to go – and have to be still as I’m sure I’ll need to send away for things as I live in the Bay of Islands in NZ and there are no craft stores here at all.
sarahjane, how do you purchase your masks? I would like to phone you?
